Know More
Château Peyfaures
The magic of Chateau Peyfaures begins at the vineyard.

We spend time in the fields cultivating the best fruit. We pride ourselves on running sustainable vineyards through a combination of responsible farming practices, innovative techniques, and cutting-edge scientific research. This approach helps us to continuously elevate the quality of the fruit we produce.

Located in Génissac, neighboring the famous Pomerol and Saint Emillion, the vineyard covers a mixture of gravelly-sandy soils and clay-limestone soils on limestone subsoil rich in nutrients. Chateau Peyfaures wines are celebrated for their unique terroir and sense of place. Our wines are a reflection of the intention to convey place as an essential character in everything we make. The combination of respectful farming and craftsmanship as well as our soil and climate result in wines that are layered, nuanced and seductively captivating.

The Winemaker

Laurent Godeau

Graduated from Audencia business school and from Bordeaux University of Oenology DUAD, Laurent joined the Estate in 2008 and has been director of winemaking since then.

Laurent is a 7th generation winemaker at Chateau Peyfaures. Laurent's love for winemaking began at the estate where he was introduced to family winemaking, history, agriculture, beauty, food, flavors and the artisanal aspect of the winemaking process. Laurent has a natural instinct brought up by his upbringing at the cellar making him able to envision how the wine will best express the fruit and the terroir. From there the winemaking techniques, oak selection, and aging parameters are chosen to achieve the goal of letting terroir express itself. Terroir-oriented wines that express place, with balance and great integrity of fruit are the focus of Laurent's attention.

Laurent has been working with some of the best, including Michel Rolland who's is part of Chateau Peyfaures enology consulting team and from whom he has been taking worthy experiences. Right now he is excited to be completing a thorough study of the vineyard to implement new technologies at the cellar to keep the endeavor to craft the best ever Château Peyfaures.
