Know More
Château Peyfaures
The magic of Chateau Peyfaures begins at the vineyard.

We spend time in the fields cultivating the best fruit. We pride ourselves on running sustainable vineyards through a combination of responsible farming practices, innovative techniques, and cutting-edge scientific research. This approach helps us to continuously elevate the quality of the fruit we produce.

Located in Génissac, neighboring the famous Pomerol and Saint Emillion, the vineyard covers a mixture of gravelly-sandy soils and clay-limestone soils on limestone subsoil rich in nutrients. Chateau Peyfaures wines are celebrated for their unique terroir and sense of place. Our wines are a reflection of the intention to convey place as an essential character in everything we make. The combination of respectful farming and craftsmanship as well as our soil and climate result in wines that are layered, nuanced and seductively captivating.

The Winemaker

Laurent Godeau

Laurent has the expertise of 6 generations of his family as winemakers at Château Peyfaures before him. As the 7th in line, he grew up immersed in the history and traditions of Bordeaux, learning from a young age about the art and science of winemaking, the flavors and beauty of the region. He brings this intense pride and respect to his craft, striving to celebrate the terroir through instinctual winemaking decisions, oak selection, patience in cellar.
In addition to having the benefit of early exposure to winemaking, Laurent also graduated from Audencia business school and from Bordeaux University of Oenology DUAD. Following his studies, Godeau officially joined the estate in 2008 and has been director of winemaking since then. In an effort to further his craft, he has worked with and learned from widely respected Bordeaux consultant Michel Rolland. Most recently he is excited to be close to finishing a thorough study of the vineyard in order to implement new technologies in the cellar as part of his mission to continually raise the bar of Château Peyfaures.
